Day 108 – St Thomas, Apostle Revd Tim Heaton’s Thought for the Day

Usually remembered in one word, “Doubting”, an unfair epithet for a man who only asked for some proof. In fact the evidence he demanded was no more than what the other disciples had already been given the time that Thomas wasn’t with them.

I’d rather remember him as the one who, responding to Christ’s command to “make disciples of all nations”, went to India, where he built a church with his own hands.

Celebrated as the patron saint of builders, his symbol consists of a carpenter’s square… along with a spear, the instrument of his martyrdom.
