Revd Tim Heaton’s Thought for the Day
Day 17 Saturday, 21 November
Litter on the road through the village is back to pre-Covid levels. We picked up the entire remains of a McDonald’s meal on our walk this morning, a regular occurrence.
It seems that the pandemic has harmed many of the good and beautiful things in the world but not the bad and the ugly. The grab-and-go, fast food, takeaway and throwaway culture lives on. (My theory as to why they won’t put it in the bin at home is because they don’t want their partner or parents to know that they’ve just spent a huge amount of money on a very unhealthy meal.)
My mood is darkening with the days. I want Advent to come quickly. I need to see some hope for the world.
